In order to fix a total endoprosthesis the articular surfaces on the upper leg and shinbone are jointly removed together with bone substance. The surface is processed in such a way that a precisely tailored prosthesis can be positioned. If the capsule-band apparatus is stable, the existing structure will take over the guidance of the prosthesis parts. If the stability is not sufficient, the joint parts will require a coupling. For this, there are numbers of techniques which vary in the individual case. In the ARTICO Sports Clinic, the patients are informed in in-depth advisory conversations in detail about the individually indicated possibilities. In cases where the sliding area of the kneecap is also destructed, a replacement of the surface can also be created. Here too, there are individual solutions available. In some cases, the bony onset of the shinbone band must be cut off and fixed again for this. |
