As a ball joint, the shoulder joint offers a very large degree of movement. This flexibility is reached by means of a very well balanced interplay of muscles, retaining bands and capsule. Due to the loose guidance of the joint in order to achieve flexibility the joint is particularly prone to injuries and wear and tear too. In the ARTICO Sports Clinic, we offer a wide treatment spectrum in order to maintain or recover the mobility of the shoulder joint. These include, among other things, labrum fixations. The cartilage ring (labrum glenoidale) serves to stabilize the joint. When dislocating the shoulder, this ring is mostly damaged. Without carrying out a refixation there is the danger of the shoulder being constantly dislocated. In the ARTICO Sports Clinic, the damaged cartilage is refixed in a minimum invasive surgery. If this procedure was not sufficient, or the patient already complains of the shoulder being constantly dislocated, then a so-called capsule shift is advisable. In case of a partially torn tendon or muscular system, the rotator cuff suture ranks among the most frequent operations on the shoulder joint. Similar to a labrum fixation suture material is fixed in the bone by means of fathom anchors where the torn muscles can be fixed to in a second step. Following this surgery, a longer healing phase is required. Due to the long experience and the cooperation with the Waldeck Clinic, the ARTICO Sports Clinic provides best conditions for this procedure. Furthermore, the spectrum includes Defilée extensions in case of subacromial narrowing. Bone spurs at the bottom of the shoulder roof (acromium bottom) will result in pain. In the ARTICO Sports Clinic, such so-called “Osteophytes” are ground off during an arthroscopic surgery. Following that, the supraspinatus tendon that slides below it will have sufficient space again, and inflammable irritations can heal. |
