Contrary to a widely held view great importance is attached to the meniscus within the total function of the knee joint, that´s like a buffer and extension of the supporting surface between upper and lower leg. One of the core concerns of our clinic, namely to maintain existing parts of the body as long as possible, is applied especially in the area of the meniscus. The meniscus is responsible for shock absorption, joint lubrication and also makes a considerable contribution for stability. That is why in the ARTICO sports clinic we try to maintain as much of this important tissue as possible. There are several types of meniscus suture. Which one will be considered has to be decided by an experienced surgeon in the individual case during the surgery.
