The nucleus of today’s ARTICO Sports Clinic was the orthopedic practice of Dr Gernot Felmet in 1990. In 1994 already, the ARTICO Sports Clinic moved to today’s building on 25 Hischbergerstraße. Dr Felmet recognized at an early stage that he would be able to provide even better service for the well-being of patients with a sports clinic designed as an orthopedic practical clinic.

The sports clinic in today’s form developed from that as an innovative center for joint surgery which due to state-of-the-art surgery methods and accompanying scientific work can always be found on top of development. Bearing in mind quality and costs, a new model of in-patient provision was developed since the summer of 1994. Our patients recover quickly in our own bed ward under qualified aftercare in a comfortable and relaxing environment of an extremely well equipped rehabilitation and health resort clinic and the park hotel “Waldeck” in Bad Dürrheim. This model was introduced as trend-setting by the social ministry of Baden-Wuerttemberg. We experience recognition due to international interest.

The clinic was granted special honor through the visit of Wassilij Smirnov, the Consul General of the Russian Federation, when, after a visit to Germany of the then Russian President Boris Jelzin, inaugurating the surgery robot CASPAR and establishing the cooperation between the University of Moscow and the ARTICO Sports Clinic.

Today the ARTICO Sports Clinic is a popular partner of both scientific research institutions and manufacturers of surgical devices, for instance. During lectures all around the globe Dr Felmet and his team report on the latest developments regarding foreign implant-free surgery methods, for instance. Also important to the clinic is the fruitful cooperation with medical companies located in the environment. The Schwarzwald-Baar-Heuberg region, where world-famous companies are based, is considered to be the technology center of the industry sector.
